PERS Story

As a PERS member himself, Ryan brings twenty years of finance and accounting experience to the financial planning industry having worked in the insurance and education sectors.

Ryan spent ten years working for Jackson County School District where he was an Assistant Business Manager and Business Manager. He became a vested PERS member in 2022.

Seeing that PERS members are often ignored and shut out or simply sold products by Financial Advisors, Ryan decided to address this and pursue a lifelong passion for personal finance by launching a state registered investment adviser focused on providing fee-only, comprehensive financial planning and tax preparation to Mississippi PERS members.

Education

Ryan graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors Degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and graduated with a Masters Degree in Business Administration from William Carey University. He also holds a Certificate in Financial Planning from the University of Georgia Executive Program in Financial Planning.

Certifications

Ryan is a candidate for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, having met the rigorous educational standards and having passed the national exam in 2025. He is currently working towards fulfilling the professional experience requirement of 6,000 hours necessary for full certification.

Ryan obtained the CHARTERED PROPERTY CASUALTY UNDERWRITER certification having passed eight exams over three years. Ryan was one of the youngest CPCU recipients in the country in 2009. The CPCU is the top credential a professional in risk management and property-casualty insurance can obtain. It is estimated less than 5% of risk management and insurance professionals hold the CPCU designation.

Ryan has successfully passed Part 1 (Individuals) of the IRS Special Enrollment Examination. Enrolled agents are subject to a suitability check and must pass a three-part Special Enrollment Examination, which is a comprehensive exam that requires them to demonstrate proficiency in federal tax planning, individual and business tax return preparation, and representation.

*Ryan obtained the DAILY ACTIVITY DRIVER certification having chauffeured his kids successfully to/from school, practices, games, appointments, and birthday parties the past 13+ years though not always on time.
